The history of the RWG (Reciprocity Writing Group) is that Lina Dostilio invited a number of people who attended the 2010 IARSLCE conference to join her in thinking about opportunities to clarify the meaning of reciprocity within community engagement literature. This group included Sarah Brackman, Kathleen Edwards, Patti Clayton, and Barbara Harrison. Shortly thereafter, Sarah referred Brandon Kliewer (then of University of Georgia) and Patti referred Caroline Jagoe (then of Trinity College in Dublin).

Initially, the group circulated an email in which they identified their interest in the concept of reciprocity.

In December 2011, Sarah created a Dropbox File for the group. Many of our drafts and some of our documents are kept there.

In March 2011, Patti discussed with Jeff Howard, editor of the Michigan Journal, the appeal of publishing a concept review of reciprocity. He thought it was a promising idea.

In April 2011, the RWG submitted a conference proposal to the 2011 IARSCLE Conference.

In June 2011, Lina created this Wiki for the group to consolidate communication.
